With SAP BW/4HANA, the administration of data targets has been moved to the BW/4HANA Cockpit. The administration method recommended by SAP is therefore via the web browser.
On the one hand, this brings many advantages, such as easier mobile capability. On the other hand, performance is poorer compared to the old SAP GUI-based administration.
Wouldn't it be ideal to also manage data targets in SAP GUI or Eclipse? This can be done very easily with transaction RSMNG, which can be called up in Eclipse (integrated SAP GUI environment) or SAP GUI.
The advantage of this transaction is that the administration and analysis of requests runs faster than in the BW/4HANA Cockpit and you remain in the same interface. We use this transaction extensively during development because it increases usability. In addition to request management, the data of an aDSO can be easily removed. However, it should be noted that a small time window is selected for the request display by default.
So, can you do without administration in BW/4HANA Cockpit? No!
We see the transaction as a very good addition, which increases usability, especially during development. The BW/4HANA Cockpit has many advantages for the administration of daily load chains, etc., such as the integration of a process chain view.
