Take a significant step towards
MODERN DATA WAREHOUSING
Our Experience
IN CURRENT DWH PRACTICE
Previously, SAP offered Business Warehouse as an integrated development and runtime environment for data warehousing. However, practical experience showed that SAP Business Warehouse did not cover all business areas, leading many companies to develop additional data warehouse systems alongside Business Warehouse, often based on SQL database systems from other vendors. Furthermore, some companies opted against using Business Warehouse.
With the introduction of HANA as a platform, SAP also provided the fundamental capability to develop analytical systems based on native HANA techniques. What began as loosely coupled tools for building a SQL-based Data Warehouse (DWH) evolved into an integrated toolset that aligns with the general market standard for developing SQL-based DWHs.
Concurrently, a methodology was developed that, considering development standards and drawing upon modern software development methods, optimally utilizes SAP-specific tools
